“No man, not even a doctor, ever gives any other definition of what a nurse should be than this –“devoted and obedient’. This definition would do just as well for a porter. It might even do for a horse. It would not do for a policeman.” – Florence Nightingale

Nowadays, many people notice that nurses are quite less compassionate and no longer seem to care about their patients. They are easily irritated and most likely raise their voice when a watcher/patient asks a question.  There are times that they cannot easily change your dextrose and able to attend your concern/s. You see them that their eyebrows are meeting already, no time to smile and no make-ups at all. To be specific, those elderly, many staff nurses ignore or mistreated them in wards and render poor standards of nursing care

According to the NHS Future Forum, staff nurses have lack of understanding and knowledge about the values of health service. They point at that it is a universal concern about the diversity of quality of education and training of nurses across the country. It has been the responsibility of the nursing schools, clinical instructors and professionals to educate well and mode this newly nurses.

WHO ARE NURSES? Nurses give a hard time in autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. It includes the promotion of health, the prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people.

Many people cannot understand the nature of work of being a nurse. What they know is that they are the one’s who follows instructions and gives medication. But following and giving medication are not an easy job.  They are doing this job perfectly so that they can render proper medication and free of error to the patient.

Being a nurse is not as simple as ABC. It requires dedication and commitment. Everything must come in a perfect phase; definitely no flaws or else it’s the end of your lifetime licensed. Besides, medical teams hate boo-boo’s, head nurses are tough and hard as nails, and doctors are uptight on their instructions especially if the patient’s condition is not good.

But at the end of the day, nurses need to have a great deal of compassion for their fellow human beings. They have to have good communication skills in both listening as well as speaking in the language of the sphere in which they practice. Nurses should remember that they are called to be an “ANGEL OF THE SICKROOM”
